Cortobass
“Finally, a bass that fits!” This launched the Cortobass in 2004 and it launched Birdsong as a company. Everything else we’ve done is in some way based on this.

Short scale 5 STRINGS
Since 2007, with our proprietary “Double string through” B. These 5-strings behave, sound huge, and play easy. They speak for themselves!

Birdsong started here... and we haven’t forgotten.
In a borrowed corner of John C. “Uncle Johnny” Kirtland’s backwoods workshop deep in the heart of the Texas “Hill Country”, before the company and our own workshops and 21 years of doing what we do, the first instrument with Birdsong woodburned into the headstock was built here in 2001.
In 2026, we still hand craft every Birdsong bass in a small rural Texas workshop, on benches, from our hands to yours.
