The ORIGINAL Birdsong bass, the model that built the company!

Decades ago, designer Scott Beckwith was a musician for hire and played lots of shows and sessions… with basses that sounded great but didn’t fit his shorter stature, or that did fit but sounded thuddy and dull. And nothing balanced. So, he put everything he wanted in one bass - warm upright-like neck pickup tone, punchy horn-like bridge pickup tone, less reach, perfect balance, full 24 frets, zero fret for consistent open tone and low action, natural hand-rubbed look, and custom built attention to detail. AND he left out the weight, length, reach, and factory slop that was NOT wanted. And THIS turned out to be an answer for players of ALL sizes who wanted something more comfortable with no compromises.

“Eleven years on it’s performing just as well as it did day one. A huge sounding bass with playability so good it feels like cheating.” ~Grayden P. (Australia)

“After left shoulder replacement 5 years ago, my almost 10lb G&L wasn’t good for the shoulder. The Corto was the answer for me. Lightweight and plays unbelievable!!! I wish I bought it sooner!!!”

~Peter B.

"I played the Cortobass at practice tonight. Thank you. So punchy, so tight, gnarly when called for. By far the best bass guitar I've ever played. Thank you for the most versatile electric instrument available. Love the neck, love everything about it!! Thank you, Birdsong!!!!"
~Pete
